Impact of NTT Docomo 3G Service Termination on Smart Construction Edge
NTT Docomo has announced that its 3G mobile communication service “FOMA” and mobile internet/email service “i-mode” will be discontinued on March 31, 2026.
Due to the termination of 3G services, some devices may lose data connectivity after the service ends. This may occur even on LTE-capable devices depending on their configuration.
Our investigation confirmed that Smart Construction Edge may also be affected, as the LTE module used in the Edge2 application could experience communication issues after the 3G service is discontinued.
To address this issue, Smart Construction Edge will release firmware version 10.5.7 for the Edge2 application on February 4, 2026.
Important:
If the firmware is not updated to version 10.5.7 before March 31, 2026, LTE communication settings may no longer be available.
To ensure continued use of Smart Construction Edge, please update the firmware as soon as possible.
※ Updating to firmware version 10.5.7 will automatically update the OS version to 7.3.2.

If the device is not updated to firmware version 10.5.7, Docomo LTE communication will no longer be available in the Edge2 application after March 31, 2026.
How to Restore Connectivity
If LTE communication becomes unavailable, please:
Connect the device using a wired LAN connection
Update the Edge2 firmware to version 10.5.7
With this update, Smart Construction Edge will continue to operate normally even after the termination of Docomo’s 3G services.
